Walks in the Cotswold Water Park

South of Cirencester and north of Cricklade, the Thames & Severn Canal runs through the Cotswold Water Park, an area of 140 lakes created through gravel extraction over the past 50 years. Many of the lakes are used for leisure activities and accommodation, and provide an excellent year round location for walkers and wildlife lovers.

The Cotswold Water Park Society has produced a walks leaflet detailing 6 circular walks around the Western Section of the Cotswold Water Park. Two of the walks follow the canal tow path, and give excellent opportunities for seeing some stunning wildlife such as bats, dragonflies, butterflies, glow worms, and various songbirds such as reed bunting, reed warblers and blackcap.
